Performs complex medical records functions requiring higher-level decision-making. Assists in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the medical record; assists with assuring timeliness and accuracy in the various Health Information Department sections; assists with monitoring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements and RPCI policies related to documentation processing and document retention as well as New York State regulations related to Health Information Management (HIM); assists with requirements for regulatory surveys; assists with major initiatives involving the HIM Department; assists in implementation of record retention policy; processes disability insurance claims; ensures accurate and timely completion of patient long term and short term disability insurance forms; ensures accurate and timely completion of continuing care and patient release of information requests. May perform the duties of a Medical Records Associate I and/or Medical Records Associate II.Qualifications:
